Pebble Mountain Family Campground was established in the 70s when the owner of the land was a member of a camping club & invited his fellow members to help him build the sites in exchange for site space for a period of time.
During that time, the owner's grandaughter was visiting and upon seeing all "the rocks" laying around, exclaimed, "Grandfather, just look at all thoses "pebbles". Pebble Mountain, he thought, and so the name was born. Many people think that the mountain behind us is Pebble Mountain, and some refer to this area as the Pebble Mountain community.
The reality is there is NO mountain named Pebble Mountain, just the campground.
The campground was purchased in 1990 by a couple who had camped here for a long time and thought they would like to own a campground. However, in 1992, they changed their mind and Larry & Marie Whitney purchased the campground, closing in January, 1993. We are still the current owners and enjoy our assocation with all who camp with us. The biggest majority of our campers are season campers, since we are "off the beaten path". And most of our campers are repeat customers who return to camp with us year after year. We appreciate their patronage and welcome newcomers, as well.

| Customer testimonials Chris, who was a new camper with us last year, stated, Pebble Mountain is the best kept secret in Greene County. Many others have expressed that same opinion. When we first bought the campground in 1993, many people in this area said they had never even heard of the place, and they had lived here all their life. We advertised and best of all started to have "word of mouth" advertising, and eventually, when talking to others about our place, would hear people say, "Pebble Mountain, we've heard of that place, where is it?" Bobbie and Keith say that this is the quietest place they have ever camped and many others agree. In fact, for some it is "too quiet" and when we hear that, we are happy that they choose to camp elsewhere. "A peaceful coexistence with nature" is our motto. We are, as our name implies, a family campground, and do not allow any beer parties or any other alcohol or drug related parties of any kind. | Safety and security is another reason many of our campers return year after year. They know that they can leave their belongings on their picnic table or in their camp site without fear of having it missing when they return. They children enjoy riding their bikes, but must folloow the bike rules. When they arrive each summer, they are issued a bike license for that season and know that if they disobey the rules, they will have to park their bike for a while. The most popular spot from Memorial Weekend through Labor Day is the swimming pool. Need I say more. / / Ask for Marie and tell me that you saw our web site and comment on it and I will give you a discount. This is a limited time offer and may be discontinued at the end of July. r |
